EUNICE
&
MICHAEL
Our Love Story
Long story short… It started with a swipe.
January 7, 2020. Eunice had swiped on the man with the kindest eyes and nicest smile. While her best friend smirked in disbelief, Eunice thought to herself, ‘I could see myself arguing with this man forever’. And oh, was she right.
Michael, on the other hand, had just moved to Hong Kong 5 days prior and was getting the hang of the bustling big city. As if his search for an apartment wasn’t hectic enough, he was notified that he matched with Eunice, to whom he opened the conversation by saying, and I quote, ‘I think Filipinas are the most gorgeous women’.
A few days of nonstop texting later, Michael and Eunice decided to meet in person for their first date. The attraction was instant and intense. They met at a terrace bar, Mr Wolf (where they were stalked by 2 of Eunice’s girlfriends who were passing by the area - IYKYK), and by the end of the night, they shared their first kiss at the HK Ferris Wheel, where Michael had decided to “delete Bumble and get off the app” as he mentioned, ‘I think this is the start of something good’. And oh, was he right.
January 26, 2020, exactly 19 days after they swiped and not even month end, Michael asked Eunice to be his girlfriend. But we all knew what happened next - they were officially a COVID couple.
Their first year was a rocky start, and so were the few years of recovery after that. Though they knew they were attracted to each other, they were so different. They fought hard but eventually, chose to fight for each other, which ultimately strengthened their bond.
Their love had truly and deeply blossomed through having a similar palate for food, supporting every impulsive luxury purchase (on both sides), jetsetting every weekend to every country with an HK Express flight sale, catching pink, purple and orange sunsets, attending LANY concerts overseas, and enjoying watching American BBQ showdown on Netflix (among many other shows).
And after almost 6 years, 4 apartments, 1 Kichi, and many stuffed toy babies later, they are about to commit to each other for the rest of their lives - through Thick and Thin. *cue LANY song*
